Fee Structure

pic6.jpgLegal services will be performed by Joel K. Straus only after the execution of a written fee agreement signed by both the Attorney and the Client. The agreement sets forth the responsibilities of the attorney, the obligations of the client and the legal fees to be charged.

In Family Law and Dissolution matters there will be an advance required (commonly referred to as a retainer) and an hourly rate billed for services rendered. The hourly rate will then be credited against the fees advanced and after those fees are completely expended the client will be directly billed for any additional legal services.

The policy of having fully informed clients is fostered by the client's receipt of regular monthly bills and regular monthly statements reflecting all legal services rendered. By receipt of the itemized statements, the client will be able to follow the time spent and the costs incurred. The client will not experience situations where he or she finds themselves suddenly faced with attorneys fees escalating without any prior warning.

In Criminal Cases, the client will generally be charged a "flat fee" with additional fees charged per day of trial.

Visa and Mastercard are accepted for all fees.
